Epigenetics

Epigenetics is defined as changes in gene expression which are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence and can be heritable by certain mechanisms. Epigenetic gene regulation is essential for many biological processes including parental imprinting, transgene silencing, cancer, and aging. Epigenetics researches are mainly focused on the mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation, including chromatin architecture regulation, DNA methylation, histone modification, long non-coding RNAs, and small RNAs through molecular genetics, multi-omics, and systems biology approaches.
